It’s a festival rich summer for our four-legged companions and the next one is just around the corner!  Woof-A-Palooza is a grassroots doggie event being held on Sunday, June 11th from 10:00am – 6:00pm at the Woodbridge Fairgrounds.  This interactive, fun and educational experience has absolutely everything for you and your pup to do, see and taste.   Toronto Dog Spot is proud to be officially partnering with Woof-A-Palooza as they enter into their 2nd year running.  We had the privilege to meet with Woof-A-Palooza’s founder and CEO Carina Paoletti who let us in on what a great treat this event is for the canines of Vaughn.

The event is Free to the public, and only a $10 donation is asked to get into this delightful doggie affair.  Remember to bring your cash as the vendors will be offering some great deals.   Among the twenty-nine local and Canadian based vendors are Crumps Naturals, the Canadian Kennel Club, various local veterinary clinics will be represented and so much more, including a microchip booth, an “Ask the Vet” booth and the “Pampered Pooch Tent”, because, hey, every paw deserves a little pampering now and again.

Fun times await your furry friend at Woof-A-Palooza; from a splash pad for your pup to stay cool, a fashion show for pups to strut their stuff, paw painting to a talent show for those who want to show off their special tricks, this event promises to be a full day of outdoor entertainment and merriment.  Event merriment usually equates to free stuff. Did I mention the free stuff?  Be one of the first 250 dogs and get a free swag bag! Toronto Dog Spot will also be having a free doggy gift basket raffle for attendees who Like our Facebook page.

Bringing the dog community together isn’t all just fun and games, though; it’s about heart.   Woof-A-Palooza will be featuring Black Dog Rescue, which is a rescue organization that accepts donations of food, toys and doggie essentials for those unfortunate furry souls who still need love.  If you wish to donate to the cause, there is a wish list both on the Woof-A-Palooza and Black Dog Rescue website.

There are other ways of giving back also.  As you know it has been scientifically proven that animals are a great source of comfort and stress relief especially to the sick and elderly.  Petting animals causes a rush of feel-good endorphins.  Did you know that dog owners live longer? Oh yeah!  So if you wanted to give back to the bipedal community through your pet, there is a chance to sign up you little love giver as a registered therapy dog.   After all that work to get your pup to be a socialized, well rounded, good boy/girl, what better way to put your pup’s skills to work than to give back!  (If your pup isn’t the best listener, there’s a booth for that too – you may find me there…sigh).

No festival is complete without a little sustenance.   There will be some vendors on site but don’t feel like you have to stay – venture out and stray to discover some great restaurants just minutes away from the venue.  You will be able to come in and out as you please if you wanted to venture out farther for a meal.

Bring your pup (and their leash and poop bags of course!) and enjoy a fabulous day filled with fun, heart and friends as we celebrate our pooches in the Vaughan community!
